Beauty Therapy

Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Consultancy Services

This course is designed for anyone who may be contemplating a career in hairdressing / Beauty. During this course you will gain a valuable insight into the industry and develop useful basic skills and relevant background knowledge.

There will be mixture of classroom teaching and practical based activities. There are also multiple choice online assessment for some of the units.

The topics you will study are:
  • Working in beauty related industries
  • Follow health & safety in the salon
  • Client care & communication in beauty related industries
  • Instruction on make-up application
  • Shaping & colouring eyebrows
  • Create an image based on a theme with the Hair & Beauty sector
  • Provide facial skincare
  • Provide manicure & Nail Art Treatment
  • Salon Reception duties

Assessment will be based on the treatments you learn. This will be through project, tests, a portfolio and observation of your work. The qualification for the above units is the equivalent, Four GCSE’s A-C.


Hairdressers / beauty therapists usually work in salons, some of which may be located within department stores. Others will work on photo shoot/ film/ television/ health farms/ hotels/ fitness clubs or on a cruise ship. Some are self-employed, choosing to work from home or visiting clients in their own home.
