Construction

This course is available as an Option in KS4.

The Construction and Built Environment course is designed to help youngsters prepare for work or college in the construction industry. You will learn about the different jobs that are involved in the construction industry, sustainability issues, health & safety and the personal skills and qualities needed etc. You will also learn practical skills such as: joinery, painting & decorating, brickwork, electrics and plumbing.

There will be a mix of classroom and workshop teaching. You will have the opportunity to do practical work. There will be project work, simulated work experience and you will produce evidence of your skills. The BTEC Construction course is made up of mandatory and optional units some of which will be practical skills units.  25% of the course will be externally assessed the rest internally assesses via means of a portfolio of work for each unit.

BTEC Level 2 – BTEC First Certificate in Construction and the Built Environment (Equivalent to two GCSE’s A - C)
