Health & Social Care

This course is available as a BTEC Option course at KS4, it is designed to help you prepare for work in a range of Health & Social Care occupations.

You will study four core units within the Health & Social Care Sectors:

  • Communication in health and social care
  • Individual Rights in health and social care
  • Individual Needs in health and social care
  • Ensuring safe environments in health and social care

You will also study four specialist units:

  • Vocational Experience in a Health or Social Care Setting *
  • Anatomy and Physiology for Health & Social Care
  • Human Lifespan Development
  • The Impact of Diet on Health

* This unit includes 60 hours of mandatory work experience and is recommended.

There are no exams. All units are assessed through coursework and an overall grade for the qualification is awarded.

You may gain a BTEC First Diploma in Health & Social Care, equivalent to four GCSEs grades A* – C, depending upon the quality of work produced.

You may also get the opportunity to help out with local residents and accompanying them on days out
