Dear Parent/Carer

Attendance – Rewards for 2015/16

At Greenwood Academy, we consistently reinforce the importance of 100% attendance. Academic attainment and attendance have a proven positive correlation – the more your child is in school, the more likely they are to succeed in their studies.

We always warn of the legal dangers of your child’s attendance falling below a certain threshold, but what about those students who have consistently excellent attendance? What about those students who have turned their attendance around?

Next year, we will be introducing a new series of rewards based around excellent attendance. These will range from weekly awards – Vivos and phone calls home, to bigger termly and yearly awards. Every term, students with immaculate attendance will receive vouchers for shops and gifts of their choice, and will also have the chance to pick from a ‘hamper’ of desirable gifts. They will also be invited to a celebratory attendance breakfast. For older students, they will be able to start saving up some money towards their Prom at the end of Year 11.

At the end of the year, students who maintain superb attendance will be invited to a special Rewards Trip. In previous years, these have taken place at Alton Towers and other huge attractions.

So, next year, please support us with your child’s attendance. Please remind them of these amazing incentives, and reinforce the importance of being in school.

Thank you again for your continued support.

Yours sincerely

Mr L Cole
Acting Assistant Principal
