On Friday 20th March, the BIG CHARITY QUIZ will be held at Greenwood Academy – with community teams competing in a friendly quiz, whilst raising money for the charity FAST (Families & Schools Together).

The BIG CHARITY QUIZ invites local residents of all ages to form teams of up to eight people. Each member will be asked for a £2 donation to enter the BIG CHARITY QUIZ, with all proceeds going to the ’award-winning early-intervention programme’ called FAST.

FAST is an international charity, recognised for its work in engaging families of primary school children with their schools and wider community. FAST is supported in the UK by Save the Children.

FAST work with up to 40 families in any one area – organising, and running, an eight week programme of play dates, community groups & support sessions. Each eight week FAST programme encourages healthy communication between ‘parents, children, teachers and the wider community’, which in turn FAST believes will ‘make sure children get the support they need to fulfill their potential at school.’

Established in 1988 by Dr. Lynn McDonald, Professor of Social Work Research at Middlesex University, FAST has worked with 6,000 families and 11,500 children across the UK since 2010. FAST also runs programmes for families, children and schools in a further 18 countries around the world

Greenwood Academy’s Communities Manager, Trevor Evans*, says: “FAST have been recognised worldwide for the work they do bringing families, schools and communities together – even winning an award from the United Nations in 2010. Greenwood Academy is proud to host this fundraising event for FAST.

We host a lot of community events at Greenwood Academy; it’s important for us to be both a good school and a proactive hub for the wider community. The BIG CHARITY QUIZ is another fun way for us to support something that will benefit the whole community, and we hope to see a lot of friendly faces on Friday (March 20th)”

The BIG CHARITY QUIZ will be hosted at Greenwood Academy on Friday 20th March, from 6pm to 8pm.

Teams should be made of up to 8 people, with all ages welcome to enter. Each participant will be asked for a £2 donation to enter the BIG CARITY QUIZ, with all proceeds going to FAST.
