Greenwood Academy to provide Post 16 Education from September 2014.

I am delighted to announce that the academy will be offering Post 16 Education from September 2014. The new Greenwood Academy 6th Form will be able to offer up to 200 places when it reaches full capacity in 2016.

When I joined the academy 12 months ago I was determined to extend the age range of the academy to provide a high quality, fully inclusive curriculum for students up to the age of 18. Students at Greenwood Academy will now continue to benefit from the excellent teaching on offer at the academy. Many students will extend their studies to A Levels with some students choosing vocational routes into apprenticeships or employment.

Existing Year 11 Greenwood Academy students are eligible for places from September 2014, with school leavers from outside of Castle Vale eligible to apply to the academy from 2015. Demand for places is expected to be high.

The 6th Form will utilise existing capacity in the main school building with a 6th Form Study Centre taking up residence in the top floor of the Astral Centre which will be partially refurbished to provide a high quality environment for the students and the many community groups who will continue to make use of the center during the day, evenings and weekends.

If you would like further information please do not hesitate to contact the academy on 0121 464 6101.

Thank you for your on-going support,

Harry French
