The Greenwood Academy School Sports Partnership organised an indoor athletics competition for local primary schools which took place on Tuesday 6th May.

Four local primary schools; Pegasus , Topcliffe, The Firs and Timberley all sent teams. Each team had ten boys and ten girls from year 5 participating in events. The pupils faced a range of challenges, through a variety of athletics events, including running, throwing and jumping events. Pupils had the opportunity to throw javelin as well as trying a standing long jump and vertical jump.

As with previous years, the level of commitment and enthusiasm was extremely high and all participants regardless of their ability did their very best to score points for their schools.

Timberley Primary School were the outright winners amassing a fantastic total of 109 points. In second place were Topcliffe on 81 points, third were Pegasus with 62 points and in fourth place were the Firs Primary who scored 56 points.

Special thanks to the newly formed Greenwood Academy Sports Prefects who officiated during the event and were an absolute credit to the school. These included Harry Morbey, Callum Marshall, Laura McGrady, Eden Wilkes, Kayleigh Cooper, Matthew Clarke, Mitchell Ball, Kieran Snelson, Jade Yates and Keelie Churchill.
