6th Form News
In partnership with members of the Castle Vale New Testament Church of God, 20 sixth form students were involved in preparing boxes to send as part of Operation Christmas Child. The boxes were packed with gifts such as toys, toiletries and stationery donated by the staff and students of Greenwood Academy and will be sent to children around the world to enjoy this festive season.
It was a great privilege to see our students putting so much careful thought into preparing their boxes, with many adding individual notes to further personalise their gifts.
Elliot Modise, a year 12 student, reflected on his own reasons for wanting to be involved in this cause; ‘When I was a little boy in Botswana I always received gifts at Christmas at our church which were sent by complete strangers. I loved the excitement of guessing what I was receiving and finding out that it was something I really liked. These gifts made me very happy and so I was glad to help make someone else as happy as I was as a kid receiving these gifts.’
An enthusiastic group of sixth form students have raised over £100 for Children in Need with an impromptu cake sale today during break and lunch.
As an academy we recognise the importance of supporting good causes and the 6th form are leading the way with a whole host of charitable endeavours this term.
A huge well done and thank you to Georgia, Eloise, Brogan, Jess and Julie from year 13 and a special thank you to Khari in year 12 for touring the whole academy with a bucket for donations!
